NEW ROLE - Midlands - GLOBAL TRADE & COMPLIANCE SPECIALIST. SUMMARY DESCRIPTION. Reporting to the European Distribution Centre Manager you will have responsibility to manage Import / export compliance for various sites across all EMEA region. In this role you will be responsible for ensuring minimal delays in customs clearance, reducing duty costs where possible, following Global Trade Standards and removing barriers to Trade. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES. Establish and maintain relationships with key internal stakeholders, i.e. Tax, VAT, Finance, Brokers, Logistics, Regulatory, Legal and Carriers. Proactively meet with internal customers for relationship building. Analyse and establish duty spend reporting per country. Drill into spend to look for saving opportunities and compliance improvements. Work with business partners to identify best IOR / EOR partners for new Emerging Countries. Provide day–do-day support to business around all compliance operational challenges delaying importation or exportation in the Service Organisation. Transform the Service Trade roadmap to ensure visibility into duty spend & issues by delivering solutions. Align Service Organisation with current metrics in place to allow capture of customs clearance SLAs & remove barriers to Trade. Identification of cost saving opportunities and continuous Trade compliance improvements in the business. Own end to end Trade support to address Trade compliance challenges identified. Ensure all project documentation is written & updated. Communicating to the relevant stakeholders on a timely basis. Develop relationships with authorities to ensure compliance. QUALIFICATIONS. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required for this position. Undergraduate degree and relevant experience. Ideally 10 + years’ experience in an import / export Trade compliance role in a similar industry. Excellent Knowledge of Global HS codes and valuation essential for role to support non EU imports. Proficient in use of Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Office applications. Demonstrated trade compliance background in import and / or export operations / project management with trade relevant background will be a must to ensure success in this environment. Excellent knowledge of logistics and supply chain processes. Global Trade compliance knowledge would be advantage. PERSONAL COMPETENCIES. Ability to work on own initiative and in conjunction with other team members. Strong interpersonal and communication skills; (verbal, written and presentations. Realistic and pragmatic approach to objectives. Influencing skills across regions and organisations. Ability to interact professionally and comfortably at all levels within the organisation. Ability to identify improvement opportunities & translate same from concept to reality. High attention to detail / strong analytical skills, with a methodical thorough approach. Must demonstrate customer focus, attention to detail, command skills, and ability to deal with ambiguity.
